Reflections On Mar -a- Lago

It was a night to remember… for the rest of my life. On the evening of March 16, my Dad and I stepped into the 20th century estate originally owned by Marjorie Merriweather and now known as Mar -a- Lago. I had the great opportunity and blessing to spend an evening at President Trump’s estate for the Lincoln Day Dinner. My dad’s partner, Peter Feaman, is a Christian and the Florida national committee man for RNC. He generously provided tickets for us to attend this event. It was my privilege and honor to spend the evening in this historical setting.

As we drove toward our event for the evening, there was quite a bit of traffic, but we managed to get there early. We drove through the arched gate and our car was driven away by a valet.

As we entered into this opulent estate, gold mirrors adorned every wall and gilded ceilings passed before my very eyes. It was breath-taking. We registered and then strolled outside to enjoy the pool side view. Hors d’oeuvre were served and we mingled among the crowd. My Dad and I had the unique opportunity to meet Congressman Brian Mast, Pastor Mark Burns, Adam Putman (A candidate for the Florida Governor’s Race), Sarah Palin, Ashley Moody ( a candidate for Florida Attorney General), and Donald Trump Jr. Donald Trump Jr. walked down the outdoor staircase toward the front of the pool for a short cameo appearance for Republicans donors. At that moment, all that could be heard was the rapid snapping of cameras. The crowd was very pushy, but somehow I was able to get up close enough to see him. It was surreal to be able to see him in person and not through the lens of a television screen. These leaders are making a difference for Florida and the United States of America. May we as Christians continually pray for our leaders and stand up for freedom and righteousness. Proverbs 13:34 says, “Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin condemns any people.”

At some point in the evening, I excused myself from the poolside venue and I stepped into magnificence. It was what George Washington once called, “The Necessary.” I stepped into the “Primping Room.” Gold mirrors surrounded the entire room and chandlers hung from the ceiling. The sinks were luxuriously appointed in gold. One could not even forget the gold trash can! It was the most beautiful bathroom I have ever stepped into!

A delicate bell was rung to initiate dinner. We went through the main entrance to step into a colossal room filled with immense beauty and ornate intricacies. There were 700 attendees. We ushered ourselves to our assigned table set before the stage. A prayer was offered before dinner, by Pastor Mark Burns. Sarah Palin was the keynote speaker for this event.

It was such a beautiful place…and beyond words. Each room glistened with beauty! This night was a historical experience in my life and will forever remain in my memory. My Dad and I had a special time together.…

May we never forget to stand up and speak. Ronald Regan said, “If we ever forget that we are One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under.” We must never forget that by God’s Providence, President Trump was elected to the office of President of the United States of America. We must be grateful as God has given our nation another chance to speak of Him and to change the hearts of men and women in this country. Let’s stand up for God and His righteousness!
