As Christians we look at the world around us and we see people are always trying to put their best effort into their work. They don’t know the truth within God’s Word that could completely change how they would look at the pursuit of success.
“Therefore, beloved, since you look for these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, spotless, and blameless.”
2 Peter 3:14
Did you notice what Peter said about diligence? His description of diligence looks a lot different than the type that the world is striving for.
What about you? Think about all the obligations and activities that might crowd your life. Consider the many ways you fill your time. We need to be using our time wisely. Our desire should be to continually pursue after holiness and the things of the Lord.
“Making the best use of the time, because the days are evil.”
People in the world today are seeking their own success, but God shows us in His Word that His definition of diligence is something completely different— He wants us to be diligent in our pursuit of Christ.
What does that mean? His greatest command to you is to be close to Him. That should be your highest priority. Look and examine your heart to see where it is at. What is your top priority in your life? Our top priority in life should be reading the Word each morning to be refreshed in it and to be spending time in His presence.
Ask God to help you put Him at the top of your priority list. Spend time talking to Him and asking Him your questions. Open His Word and find out who He is. Take a walk to quiet your mind and listen for His Spirit to communicate to your heart. I hope that you find in your own walk with the Lord that He is our… greatest joy!
A joyful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.
