SHOW LOVE

Otis In The Snow

When I read scripture God tells me throughout His Word to LOVE ONE ANOTHER.

John 13:34-35 declares, “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

I got a puppy a month or two ago and his name is Otis. He is sweet and loving and the dog I always dreamed of having. Otis fills me with smiles and joy. When I wake up in the morning, Otis is there waiting for me to give me kisses and licks AND  when I wake up late he scratches on the door to say hello to me.

Whoever he sees  other people, he always wants to go up to them and love on them. He gets so excited to see new people, but whoever he is with, he is always thrilled.

The act of loving one another is one of the most exhilarating things I have experienced. I feel excitement stirring in my spirit when I plan to do something to make someone else feel loved

and cared for.

Just like Otis, we as Christians always need to LOVE and care on one another, because God commands us to. Because we are loved by Him, we are called to love like Him.

1 Corinthians 13:4-8 says, “ Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.

His love for us never fails to cease.

Before we can love one another we need to have a love and passion for the Lord. Deuteronomy 6:5 says, “Love the Lord your God with your heart, soul, and strength.” How do we express love for God? We love Him through obedience , through singing praises to Him, & journaling  love letters and so many other ways. Our  desire to follow and obey the Lord’s commandments increases our love  for the Lord.

I encourage you this week to think of one person in your life that could really  use a gesture of God’s love. Remember God is love and He loves you!!
